Pressure Seal Bonnet Gate Valves

Pressure seal gate valves are used for high pressure service, typically for pressures above 100 bar. The unique feature of the pressure seal bonnet is that the body-bonnet joints seal improves as the internal pressure within the valve increases.

The main applications are: petrochemical industry, steam circuits, boiler circulation, oil and gas applications, power stations
Common used types of medium encountered are: steam, condensate, boiler feedwater

Typical pressure rating of the valve is 900, 1,500 and 2,500 pounds.

Pressure Seal Bonnet

Reliable and with simple design principles, Red Point’s pressure seal bonnet (PSB) has proven its capability to handle increasingly demanding applications. PSB valve designs weigh significantly less compared to bolted bonnet designs (BB). BB design body flange and bonnet flange are joined by studs and a gasket inserted between the faces to seal. Studs are tightened to prescribed torques to affect optimal sealing. When a system pressure increases a potential leak through body/bonnet joint increases. Our pressure seal design is equipped with bonnet lift-up bolts (live-loading type) to pull the bonnet up and seal against the pressure seal gasket. This creates sealing between gasket and ID of the valve body, our segmented thrust ring maintains the load. When the system pressure builds-up, so does the load in the bonnet and pressure seal gasket. When system pressure increases, the potential for a leak through body/bonnet joint decreases. The minimum consistent operating pressure is in excess of 525 psi.

Hard Facing Disc

  • Wedge and seats are ground and lapped to a mirror finish and tightly guided to prevent dragging and seat damage
  • Body and bonnet joint accurately machined with high surface finish stem and packing chamber
  • Low emission valve technology optimized for extended service life
  • Low compression packing reduces friction and allows more room to re-torque in the field
  • Packing ring construction for excellent sealing and acts a corrosion inhibitor
  • Option: live loaded gland bolting
  • Lantern ring with double packing (upper & lower) for critical services
