The Batley Valve® brand started in 1964 when two engineers, Michael Stead and Gordon Heap, founded the Batley Valve Co. Ltd in the United Kingdom. Both former apprentices with J. Blakeborough & Sons, another of Trillium Flow Technologies legacy brands, Gordon and Michael quickly grew their company by manufacturing butterfly valves for control applications. Batley Valve soon gained a reputation for supplying high quality valves outside of the normal requirements of Class 300.
